Five of us (Dan, Sonila, Alex M, Alex S and Mona) paid a visit to Symonds Yat! The weather forecast was – as usual – depressing, but you know when you’ve got to go. And we were lucky although the climbs were partly wet and slippery.
Saturday afternoon was spent with Alex S teaching the basics of trad climbing. The rest of the trip was pretty much spent on the pinnacle.
To be remembered:
There was an actual cue on the front side of the pinnacle! Nobody knows why the in our opinion best route in the back side – Whitt (VS) – was not climbed at all.
Alex S’s meet and greet with the wasps on Whit half way up on the first belay point.
Alex M’s mighty whipper on Whitt’s second pitch (one of 3 consecutive falls on the slippery crux right below the top)
Mud! Mud! Mud! Symonds Yat is soo beautiful, but access is steep and muddy so you’ll definitely be covered in clay by the end of your trip
Vertigo is only S but has such a weird scary and poorly protected start!
