Harrison’s Rocks on 18th August

On board: Marga, Sophia, Adam, David, Paolo, Aniko, Mona and first timers David and Adam

The closer we came to Harrisons Rocks the more it rained, so we decided to check out Chimera Bouldering Walls in Tunbridge Wells, which turned out to be a not overcrowded and friendly place with loads of interesting problems for all abilities and really good coffee too, only the entry fee of £11 was a bit over the top.

When the sun came out in the early afternoon, we went back to the real rocks, ticking off ‘Open Chimney’ and ‘Root Route 2.5’ on the Root Routes Section. There were a couple of other routes on this crag we’d have loved to climb but we ran out of time, so we’ll be back!

Our much loved van was groaning and moaning all the way there and back, and you can just tell that it’s days are numbered.  We were talking about the prospects of getting a club minibus that all members (with a driving licence) could drive. We’d need to find about £10 000 to buy one and have it running for a year, so if there’s a keen fundraiser out there who would like to take on this challenge, or some sponsors who want to support us, please get in touch!
