Black Lizard Gear Bank
This is the humble launch of our Black Lizard Gear Bank! Members can borrow climbing and mountaineering gear, books and maps, and also offer their own stuff for others to use. Thanks to the Alpkit Foundation, we could stock up on gear, and we hope to get more funding for the Gear Bank to grow and prosper.We absolutely love the idea of sharing things and making use of stuff that would otherwise just be catching dust. And we hope you do too, as the Gear Bank depends on its users and contributors, so make use of it and spread the news!
We would love to have a sleek and smoothly working Gear Bank platform but resources and skills are limited. So if you have ideas or skills on how to develop the format, design and processes of this library please get in touch - your help is more than welcome.
HOW TO USE IT
You can find the products on offer by scrolling down or searching for key words using the search bar.
If you want to borrow an item, fill in the form below, stating the item number/s, and we'll process your booking as soon as possible.
There will be a small hire fee for each item, and we'll also charge a admin fee of £1 for each transaction.
If you would like to add your gear to the library, send us an email with information about type, date of purchase, condition, usage, availability, and a picture, and we'll add it for you to the list.
DISCLAIMER
The Gear Bank will only be available for Club members.
We’ll do our bit to keep things as safe as possible, and meticulously keep book about the usage, especially of the “software”, as wear and tear and especially falls will impact on the material. But of course as with all used stuff, a risk remains, and borrowers will need to be aware.
Borrowers borrow gear on their own risk, and Black Lizard doesn’t take any responsibility for incidents or accidents involving or caused by gear offered via the Gear Bank.
